Tennessee’s newest trout hatchery is located in the science lab of Briceville School.  Volunteers from the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), Coal Creek Watershed Foundation, and Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited helped students install a 55-gallon aquarium that is equipped with a filter and chiller to maintain the desired water quality and temperature for raising trout fry.

Last month, a trout hatchery was set up in Ms. Gladys Stooksbury’s class as shown at http://www.coalcreekaml.com/TroutHatcheryBricevilleSchool.htm.  On Wednesday, February 11, Duane Oyer and Ricky Bean from TWRA are delivered the trout eggs.  If all goes as planned, trout fry raised in the Briceville School trout hatchery will be released to Coal Creek and the Clinch River tailwater in May. Many thanks to Carol Moore, The Coal Creek Watershed Foundation, and the TWRA.
